Group Coaching

The staple of San Diego Athletics comprehensive and inclusive group class. This program makes up all of our regularly scheduled classes.

Commitment to the program will increase strength consistently, prioritize aerobic and interval conditioning, focus on learning and practicing new skills, and always keep you challenged and progressing in a safe and effective manner.

Each day of training will:

  • Include a main strength focus for the day
  • Followed with a skill or a combination of strength movements.
  • Conclude with a metabolic conditioning workout.

All Olympic lifting movements will be scalable and this cohesive group structure will allow us to provide you the top notch coaching experience you have come to expect from SDA.

Thursdays we run specialty classes. Olympic weightlifting and Gymnastics classes will run at certain times. The rest of the Thursday classes focus on partner workouts. You can find details about when each class runs on our Schedule Page

Saturdays will generally be programmed as a benchmark workout. Potential sources for these are workouts from the big board at the front of the gym, past open workouts, hero workouts, etc. Check out our Schedule Page for the Saturday schedule.

You can read the full Philosophy of our Program on our Blog

Private Coaching

Private training is recommended for athletes recovering from injury, coaching for a specific event, or those looking for a more personalized approach to achieving their fitness goals. Private coaching can be done individually or in small groups of two to four athletes.

Private training is highly recommended for athletes recovering from injury, coaching for a specific event, or those looking for a more personalized approach to achieving their fitness goals.

Small group training of two to four athletes is a great way to save money, work out with friends, and get the same individualized attention of one-on-one private training. Small group training allows you to share the costs with a friend and still receive all the benefits of having a personal trainer.

At San Diego Athletics, we do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to nutrition. Every person is unique, with various physiques, activity levels, food tolerances, and genetics. No matter what your goals, nutrition is the cornerstone of wellness, the key to life-long health, and is critical for optimal performance. Good nutrition requires a solid foundation built with foods that are simple, whole, and nutrient-dense. Margaux Preston, MS, RD, CSG, CSR, CDE, and owner of Food as RX, offers one-on-one counseling for competitive athletes or the casual exercisers, educating clients how to lose weight, improve energy levels, or maximize performance.

Movement Rx is proud to partner with San Diego Athletics to provide mobility and physical therapy services on location. At Movement Rx, we live and breathe Movement and Mobility and specialize in working with CrossFit and other high intensity athletes. We are Doctors of Physical Therapy with various CrossFit and Strength & Conditioning accreditations, and we uniquely combine human performance and physical therapy to allow you to be active at the level you want while removing pain and injury risk.
