Air Lunge

The Air Lunge may in fact be more difficult than the pistol. This movement is performed with one leg, much like the pistol, but instead of the off-leg remaining in front of the body, the off-leg will move behind the body as the athlete squats.

In a standard lunge, the back foot will contact the ground, and then the knee will follow, allowing for ease of balance, as well as a means of additional support for the athlete to push off of to create power from the bottom.

In an air lunge, the back knee of the off-leg will touch the ground while the back foot will remain elevated throughout the entire rep.

To scale this movement, the athlete will insert themselves between two boxes. They will use their hands to support their bodyweight as they descend into the air lunge, and then attempt to use the hand as minimally as possible to elevate themselves out of the bottom.
