Office Food Club
How do you stay healthy at the office? I don’t know about you but there are a lot of temptations in every break room and meeting room around my office; doughnuts, pastries, snack cabinets, leftovers from delicious lunch meetings etc... It’s easy to nibble this and nibble that, I often find myself doing just this, especially when stressed, needing a break or when I wander in to refill my water and see a cake sitting right there in front of me looking divine J Yes, I have a HUGE sweet tooth, always have, always will, just trying to curb it day by day.

I usually bring leftovers from dinner for lunch but one of a few things happen 1. I am not that amped on eating it because I just had it last night and I am bored with it 2. It never tastes as good on the second day and I want something fresh and new and that’s when donuts and chocolate look really good! 3. We eat a lot of red meat and fish for dinner and that’s heavy for lunch. Also, no one likes the chick that heats up fish for lunch… yes I have been that girl 2 or 3 times and let me tell you I still haven’t lived it down.
Chatting with some of my work girlfriends we all decided we wanted to get healthier. They were starting a specific diet, morning shakes included etc… I didn’t want that but I suggested we start having lunch together and I put an invite on the calendar for lunch club where I would bring it in. That turned into everyone choosing a day, we usually take Monday, Wednesday and Friday and divide it up. We go and sit on the patio, take a break from the office, chat and eat really good food we didn’t have to prepare. It’s like when your mom cooks, it’s always better when you didn’t have to do it.
This is something I have started looking forward to and it helps me get excited for lunch and I have started snacking less. It’s not a revolutionary idea but its fun and pretty easy to implement.
We’re not perfect but for the most part it has helped by having others in the same position, looking forward to lunch with the girls and getting excited about trying new recipes. We even started a group OneNote to share the recipes so we can make them for ourselves>
