San Diego Athletics Commitment to the Future
No longer will there be a Bodybuilding program, a CrossFit program and a Fitness program. Collectively we will all embark on the San Diego Athletics Program.
Five years ago, San Diego Athletics operated as CrossFit PB and we were celebrating the end of our first full year of business. At the same time that CFPB turned one, Anders and I were celebrating five months of hanging out in a gym full time.
We were lucky to have enough awesome people show up on a daily basis, that we could make the pursuit of your fitness our entire focus. Every single day, we would wake up full of excitement and passion; a new opportunity to connect with our community and work with motivated people to help them achieve and surpass all of their goals.
Throughout the six-year history, the value-add of SDA has always been that we provide the highest quality coaching with the best community experience, and the most expert training staff. Our team of trainers have decades of high quality training experience. Anders and I alone have been going at this for 20 years, each. Between our staff, we have achieved advanced qualifications in key areas:
- Programming
- CrossFit
- Olympic Weightlifting
- Mobility, Gymnastics
- Nutrition.
We have coaches who have competed in Olympic trials for sprinting, competed at Regionals in CrossFit every year since inception in 2011, and even had the opportunity to coach at the CrossFit Games. We have worked with professional athletes, high school sports teams, competed in bodybuilding competitions, and helped numerous clients completely transform their lives and appearance.
What we have learned over the years, has provided us a template of training and lifestyle that we strive to pass on to each one of you. For us to be able to provide you with the highest quality coaching, to pass on this knowledge, to prioritize continued education, and to enhance the community experience, we must create and foster this environment. It is with this vision that SDA will be making the move to one unified program starting on March 28.
The San Diego Athletics Program
No longer will there be a Bodybuilding program, a CrossFit program and a Fitness program. Collectively we will all embark on the San Diego Athletics Program. The SDA program will be comprehensive and inclusive. Commitment to the program will increase strength consistently, prioritize aerobic and interval conditioning, focus on learning and practicing new skills, and always keep you challenged and progressing in a safe and effective manner. The coaches will consistently provide you with the insight and knowledge that we have accrued over the years, and collectively, as a community, we will take over Pacific Beach.
Each day of training will:
- Include a main strength focus for the day
- Followed with a skill or a combination of strength movements.
- Conclude with a metabolic conditioning workout.
All Olympic lifting movements will be scalable and this cohesive group structure will allow us to provide you the top notch coaching experience you have come to expect from SDA.
Thursdays will continue to have Olympic lifting and Gymnastics class at the same times, and the group classes will continue to focus on partner workouts.
Saturdays will always be a benchmark workout. Some of these workouts will come from the big board at the front of the gym, and provide an opportunity to get your name written up in the Top 5 for men and Top 5 for women.
All of the above items are just the tip of the iceberg. We intend to prioritize the community experience and to continuously honor our commitment to be the one-stop-shop for all your fitness needs at the beach!
Confucius once said, “only the wisest and stupidest of men never change.” Well, I don’t consider myself to be the wisest or the stupidest, and I am not so close-minded as to be unable to see an opportunity for improvement. I am confident that this one small change in the structure of the classes at SDA will have an overwhelmingly positive impact on your results and your overall experience.
