Running Speed and Power with Jonathan Quick

This Thursday, 8/20, the 5:00 class at San Diego Athletics will be focusing on speed, power, and technique drills to help your running.  Jonathan Pierce, director of education at Fix Body Group in Hillcrest, will be hosting the class to teach drills that aid in your running mechanics and increase speed.  Jonathan was a D1 track athlete at Stanford and has worked closely with the San Diego Chargers as well as the track and field athletes at the Olympic Training Facility in Chula Vista.  We are very excited to have him bring his expertise to the everyone.

From Jonathan Pierce:

"Nearly all elite runners and speed/ power athletes do form drills and drills to work on mechanics. We can apply some of the basic drills used for power and speed and track athletes to runners, crossfitters and triathletes. I find that the use of drills to build strength, flexibility specific to running and work on firing patterns helps people to run faster and better, but also perform in other sports.

People generally dislike running if they don't know how to do it, but if they can apply some simple concepts and learn movement strategies it can become much more fulfilling, and also reduce injury risk. I have spent more than 5 years teaching clinics on running mechanics and drills with which to improve. Anyone, runner, or non can benefit and have fun in this class."

See everyone Thursday at 5:00
